Dear business partner,
please take note of the regulations which will be in force starting from March 2026 in Bruges. As local tourist guide, I am obliged to comply with these regulations.
- Regulations: You can read the complete regulations by clicking here.
- Organizers: I remind you that registration as an organizer of guided tours is mandatory. Click on this link to open the page.
- Guides & Tour Leaders : I remind those who operate as guides/tour leaders that they must request authorization. Click on this link to open the dedicated page.
- Further Information: I invite you to write directly to VisitBruges if you have any questions regarding the municipal regulations. Please find here their email address:
walkingtours@brugge.be
Although it is essential to read the complete law, I summarize below the main rules that will have a major impact on the organization of tours:
5.7. Walking tour guides may allow a maximum of 20 participants to join in.
5.10. Walking tour guides are forbidden to stop with the participants during the walk:
- In the following streets and bridges: Stoofstraat, Wijngaardstraat, Walstraat, Blinde-Ezelstraat, Breidelstraat, Bonifaciusbrug, Wijngaardbrug and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerkhof-Zuid.
- In the following quiet zones: the Beguinage, except the path between the entrance gates (Wijngaardbrug and Begijnenvest) and the church; the publicly accessible inner courtyards of the Bruges almshouses.
- Within a 10-metre perimeter around the kiosks of the shipping companies providing guided boat tours.
- Please find here the general guidelines for the itinerary. You can download the official map od the city by clicking here.

I would like to point out that I don’t accept solutions that contravene the municipal regulations. In fact, in addition to the payment of a fine by your agency, the burden of the infractions also falls on the guide conducting the tour, who risks permanently losing the municipal permit for the provision of services.
Thank you for your attention.
