Learning about the Belgian Blue Stone

In the occasion of the Heritage Days of Wallonia I visited Soignies and learned more about the “Pierre Bleue” (the Belgian Blue Stone). First, I followed an interesting guided tour in the “Pôle de la pierre” (where I took these pics). Then, I visited the “Centre de documentation de la pierre bleue”, where Yves gave me a detailed explanation. On the left, the Monolith of Blue Stone of the Quarries of Soignies exposed in the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1855. On the right, a wall composed by many types of stone of the region.
